This is the June meeting for those interested in learning more about organizational development.  For SIG information see our page here!

About the OD SIG:

OD SIG gatherings are informal group discussions led by a senior-level OD/talent management practitioner. The discussion leader share stories and insights about their experiences, their backgrounds, how they got started and advanced within the discipline. Discussions are highly interactive. Attendees are encouraged to ask questions. Time is allotted for small group discussions, as well.

June Topic:
"The Seven Pitfalls of Serving the
Short-sighted Client"

San Diego County is a unique market for O.D. professionals.  It’s not the same kind of market that is in Orange County, Los Angeles or even St. Louis, Missouri.  Sometimes it can be very unsophisticated just when it needs to grow into addressing the 21st century.  We’ll look at the types of requests that companies make to both internal and external change agents.  We’ll explore how to deal with these various requests, and what it may take to survive in this increasingly VUCA world.  We’ll be transparent about some of the common disappointments and challenges facing professionals today.

  • What do you do when the client is over simplifying their time commitments or demanding Quick-Fix solutions?
  • What are the political challenges that OD consultants face inside larger corporations that schools don’t prepare you to address?
  • Who’s taking all those jobs that used to be out there?  And why is this person the one who is likely to be the one to hire you next?

Join us for an interactive and facilitated discussion of the real challenges facing old and new OD professionals today.  Bring your short antidotes of what you’ve seen or what you did.  Timi will discuss seven key areas where jobs can go sideways and what you can do to bring them back on track. Let’s have some fun and learn together!
